Jammu. 12 houses (quarters) of displaced Kashmiri Pandits were gutted in a fire on the outskirts of Jammu city on Tuesday. The officers provided this information. He said that the fire broke out in an old quarter of Purkhu Camp area and spread rapidly.
Officials said that fire service personnel reached the spot to extinguish the fire. He said that there was no news of any casualty but most of the household items and a two-wheeler were burnt to ashes.

Naveen Pandit, who lives in the quarter, said, “We lost everything in the fire. Cash, documents and gold. Everything was destroyed. We became homeless once again.” He said, “12 quarters of five-six families were burnt to ashes.” Pandit alleged, “Nobody from the district administration or relief department came to assess the damage. The migrants urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to give them compensation on the lines of Warwan in Kishtwar.” Santoshi, another woman living in the quarter, said, “We want the intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ji.”
