Maharashtra: A bus crashed and overturned in a horrific road accident on Friday afternoon in Gondia district. This accident happened near village Khajri on Gondia-Kohmara state highway.
Deaths of 9 people have been confirmed in this accident and the death toll is expected to increase. Many passengers are said to be seriously injured in the accident.
According to the information, a bike suddenly came in front of the Shivshahi bus going from Bhandara towards Gondia via Sakoli Lakhani. While trying to save the bike driver, the bus driver cut sharply, due to which the bus became unbalanced and overturned. There were more than 35 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident. In this, 9 passengers have died and many passengers have suffered serious injuries.
According to eyewitnesses present at the accident site, the bus driver fled from the spot. Passersby informed the police and ambulance service about the incident. After this, police and ambulance departments immediately reached the spot. The injured passengers were evacuated and admitted to District Government KTS Hospital, Gondia, where they are undergoing treatment.
After the accident, the Shivshahi bus is being lifted with the help of a crane. According to the information received so far, the number of passengers killed and injured in the accident may increase. The police have started investigating this entire matter.
The reaction of the state’s acting Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis has come to light on this incident. He posted on social media platform I pay my heartfelt tribute to the deceased. We share the grief of his family.”
He further wrote, “Even if the people injured in this incident have to get treated in a private hospital, they have been instructed to do so immediately. I have also asked the Collector of Gondia to make arrangements to shift him to Nagpur if necessary. Senior administrative officials have reached the spot and are coordinating relief efforts. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of those injured in this incident.”
