Tamil Nadu was neglected in the budget, I will boycott the Niti Aayog meeting: Stalin

The Uncut

Chennai. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday said that the state has been completely ignored in the Union Budget and he condemns it. He said that he will boycott the Niti Aayog meeting to be held in Delhi on July 27 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Stalin termed the budget as extremely disappointing and said that since the central government has completely ignored Tamil Nadu, it is right to boycott the Niti Aayog meeting.

MPs of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu will protest in Delhi on July 24 against the Union Budget.
Speaking to reporters, Stalin said, “To uphold the rights of Tamil Nadu, we will continue to fight in the court of the people.” Pointing to Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, Stalin said schemes for some states have been announced in the Budget to satisfy some regional parties, making the ‘minority BJP’ a ‘majority BJP’.

The Chief Minister said that though the Central Government has announced such schemes, there are doubts whether these will be implemented or not. Stalin said that the Central Government had announced a ‘Metro Rail Scheme’ for Tamil Nadu, but no funds were allocated for it (Chennai Metro Rail Phase-2) and the state is being cheated till date.

He said that similarly, there is no guarantee that the future of Bihar and Andhra Pradesh will not be like Tamil Nadu.
Stalin said that both Tamil Nadu and Thirukkural, which Prime Minister Modi had said he loves, were not even mentioned in the budget.
