Angered by the sight of a helpless bitch and her babies in the women’s police station of Ashok Nagar district of Madhya Pradesh, the Superintendent of Police (SP) ordered punishment of “censure” two days ago to five policemen, including an executive sub-inspector, for alleged negligence. Along with this, they were warned that dogs and other animals should not enter the police station premises in future. However, following objection from an animal welfare organization, the police captain had to cancel his order within 48 hours. An official gave this information on Friday.

Priyanshu Jain, president of the Indore unit of the organization “People for Animals”, said that the Superintendent of Police, upset with the sight of a helpless bitch and her babies in the women’s police station of Ashok Nagar, ordered on May 15 (Wednesday) that an executive sub-inspector and four other policemen The penalty of censure (departmental censure of the employee for doing inappropriate work) should be recorded in the service book of the employee.
He said, “The Superintendent of Police also ordered in his order that in future, dogs and other animals should not enter the Mahila Police Station premises, its building and rooms.” Priyanshu said that the bitch and her children are often found in the Mahila Police Station premises of Ashok Nagar and as soon as he got the information about the related order of the Superintendent of Police, he wrote a letter to him asking him to change the place of residence of the stray animals like dogs and cats or to give them a new place to live. Eviction from the place is a violation of legal provisions.

He said, “The office of the Superintendent of Police, Ashoknagar has informed us that the relevant order was canceled on Friday. However, we are finding out whether the bitch and her children have been chased away from the women’s police station. A police officer confirmed the cancellation of this order. The officer said that in this detailed order of the Superintendent of Police, it was also mentioned that the common citizens coming to the women’s police station are at risk of getting infected with rabies virus in case of a dog bite.
