Another accused of Sultanpur robbery killed in encounter with STF

Lucknow: Another accused in the robbery case of a jeweler’s shop in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh last month was killed in an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police in Unnao on Monday, a senior police officer said.

The officer said that the accused has been identified as Anuj Pratap Singh, a resident of Janapur village in Amethi. Earlier, on September 5, accused Mangesh Yadav was killed in an encounter with the STF in Sultanpur, which had led to a political controversy. Especially the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress have made it an issue.

Additional Director General of Police (STF and Law and Order) Amitabh Yash said on Monday that an encounter took place between the STF Lucknow team and the accused related to the robbery at the ‘Bharat Jewelers’ shop in Sultanpur in the Achalganj police station area of ​​​​Unnao district, in which one miscreant was injured while the other took advantage of the situation and fled.

Yash said that the injured criminal was taken to the government hospital for first aid, from where he was referred to the district hospital. He said that the doctors declared the accused Anuj Pratap Singh dead in the district hospital.

He said that the teams of Forensic Science Laboratory and Achalganj Police Station are taking further legal action.
Earlier, Mangesh Yadav, an accused in the robbery case, was killed in an encounter with the STF on September 5.
According to the police, on August 28, jewellery worth about Rs 1.5 crore was looted from a jeweler’s shop located in Thatheri Bazaar of Sultanpur city Kotwali area.
