Is there any secret behind Byju’s special treatment with BCCI: Congress

The Uncut

New Delhi. Is there any secret behind Byju’s special treatment with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Congress questioned on Thursday after the Supreme Court reserved its verdict on the US company’s plea against the NCLAT order to stay the bankruptcy proceedings against educational technology company Byju’s. The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its verdict on the US company’s plea against the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) order to stay the bankruptcy proceedings against Byju’s.

A bench headed by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud asked the Insolvency Resolution Professional (IRP) to maintain status quo till the Supreme Court’s decision in the matter. Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh posted on the social media platform ‘X’, “The Supreme Court has rightly asked the troubled edtech company Byju’s that despite being in debt of Rs 15,000 crore, why did it choose to pay its dues of Rs 158 crore only with BCCI? Why did it give priority to BCCI?” According to him, the Supreme Court has also reprimanded the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal for ‘not thinking’ while approving Byju’s agreement.

Ramesh questioned whether there was any mystery behind Byju’s special treatment with BCCI? The Supreme Court bench found that the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) did not exercise its discretion while closing the insolvency proceedings against the educational technology company. The court indicated that it could send the dispute back for a fresh decision.
