Mamata Banerjee criticizes DVC for releasing water without informing government

The Uncut

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has once again criticized the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for releasing excess water without informing her government. Banerjee expressed concern over the incessant rains in the state and uncontrolled release of water by the DVC.

“Today there was heavy rain and yesterday the DVC released 25,000 cusecs of water without informing us,” she said on Thursday. Banerjee alleged that the step was taken without communication with her government.

She said, “I am worried what will happen if the rain does not stop in the next three days.” She had earlier also expressed concern about the release of water from DVC dams. Recently, he had written two consecutive letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to intervene in flood-like situations and release assistance funds.
