Election result of one state cannot be called referendum of other elections: Naqvi

The Uncut

Varanasi. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Sunday that the election results of one state cannot be called a referendum on other elections. Naqvi, who was here to participate in the party’s membership campaign, said, “BJP has performed well in three consecutive Lok Sabha and several assembly elections. For us, the result of every election teaches us something with which we move forward with a resolve to achieve success.” Talking to reporters, when asked about the ‘exit poll’ of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, he said without naming any state, “The election result of one state cannot be called a referendum on other elections.”

After the completion of voting for Haryana Assembly elections on Saturday, the results of exit poll (post-election survey) have shown the possibility that Congress can form a government with full majority and after 10 years, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be in power. There may be a farewell. On the other hand, most of the exit polls have predicted a divided mandate in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, although the alliance of National Conference and Congress is also likely to get an edge. The former Union Minister said that elections are held in the country every two-three months, hence ‘one country, one election’ is an important initiative, which will strengthen democracy.
