Air Force Air Show: People faced problems to return home, two people died

Chennai. Although the Indian Air Force (IAF) ‘Air Show’ organized on the Marina Beach on Sunday was the center of attraction, thousands of people who gathered to watch it had to face many problems in returning home after the program. Police said that during this period two people fell ill and died. A police officer said two persons fell ill while returning home and one of them died in a government hospital while the other died near his bike in Anna Salai.

He said that about 35 people have been admitted to the hospital and they had symptoms of dehydration. Indian Air Force aircraft displayed their air power and combat skills in the sky of the local Marina beach and filled the crowd present here with excitement. These people reached here in thousands despite the humidity on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed the tactics of various fighter planes of the Indian Air Force including Rafale.

Hundreds of people gathered at the nearby Lighthouse metro station and Chennai MRTS railway station in Velachery and it became difficult for many to even stand on the platform. Despite this, many people took the risk of traveling and many people missed their trains.

There was a huge crowd of people gathered at the bus stop at Anna Square near the ‘Air Show’ venue. Police said that three ambulances were stuck in the traffic jam and police had to take steps to rescue them. Traffic on the main roads connecting the marina to different parts of the city was blocked and vehicles remained parked at one place for a long time. The police officer said that traffic was restored near the Marina beach about three hours after the ‘air show’ ended at 1 pm.
