New Delhi: A day before the results of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections are declared, the Congress on Monday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is playing the game of gaining majority in the Union Territory, while the BJP knows that the public has voted against the Congress and Mandate has been given to the alliance of National Conference (NC).

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh claimed that malicious steps were being taken to negate the decision of people coming in favor of the Congress-NC alliance. Voting was held in Jammu and Kashmir in three phases, on September 18, September 25 and October 1. Counting of votes is to take place on Tuesday. These elections have been held in Jammu and Kashmir after a gap of 10 years and after the state was divided into two union territories — Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in 2019.

“To destroy this democratic process, they have resorted to the old methods of their self-proclaimed fake ‘Chanakya-niti’,” the Congress general secretary claimed.
