Korba: A villager has died in a bear attack in Korba district of Chhattisgarh. Forest Department officials gave this information on Saturday. Ishwar (38) died in a bear attack in the forest of Chhaparkhola village under Katghora forest division of Korba district, officials said. He was a resident of Dhanras village.

Forest department officials said that as per preliminary information, Ishwar had gone to the forest to graze cows on Friday. When he tried to see the bear hiding in the cave, suddenly the bear attacked Ishwar and his cow. Ishwar died on the spot.

He said that when the villagers came to know about the incident, they informed the forest department. As soon as the information was received, the Forest Department team reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

Officials said that Rs 25,000 as primary assistance has been given to Ishwar’s family and the remaining Rs 5.75 lakh will be given after all the formalities are completed. He told that announcements are being made in the surrounding villages so that the villagers cannot go towards the forest.
