Receiving threats: Vikrant Massey said on the film ‘The Sabarmati Report’

The Uncut

Mumbai. Actor Vikrant Massey says he has received death threats on social media, but he is not worried as his upcoming film “The Sabarmati Report”, based on the events following the 2002 Godhra train fire, is completely based on facts. .

Massey will be seen in the role of a local journalist in the upcoming film. Its makers claim that the film is “inspired by true events.” It is produced by Ekta R Kapoor and directed by Dheeraj Sarna. The film also stars Riddhi Dogra and Raashi Khanna.
Massey told reporters on the occasion of the release of the film’s trailer, “I am receiving threats. “Regardless of it, I can say that this is something that I am dealing with and we are dealing with it collectively as a team.”

When asked about the Gujarat riots that followed the incident, he said, “But we are artists and we tell stories. This film is completely based on facts. Unfortunately, you have not seen the film, so you should not make any presumption that it is only talking about one aspect.” When Massey was asked why he decided to work in the film given that there were so many aspects to the story, Kapoor said she would answer the question on behalf of the actor.

He said, “This is not just one aspect, but the first aspect. Therefore, we are explaining the origin of this first aspect without undermining the other aspects. “Unfortunately, this aspect of how it all started has not been adequately reported.” He also said that telling one story does not mean that one is undermining the other story.

When asked whether the film could incite communal tension, Kapoor described the film as a “social critique”. He said he is a Hindu, but “being a Hindu means you are secular.” She said, “I will never comment about any religion because I am a Hindu. And I want to tell you that I love all religions. You should watch the movie. But at the same time, I will also take the names of the culprits, without naming any religion or harming it. This is the beauty of the storyteller.”

Kapoor denied any political influence in making the film on the incident in which 59 people died in the S-6 coach fire of the Sabarmati Express near Godhra train station. After that incident, communal riots broke out in Gujarat, in which more than 1,000 people lost their lives and most of those who lost their lives were Muslims.
