New Delhi. North Central Railway zone has rewarded a ticket inspector who alerted the Railway Police about a passenger allegedly traveling ticketless in a major train by posing as a senior Railway Board official. Diwakar Tiwari, posted as train inspector in Delhi-Lucknow Shatabdi Express, recently encountered a person traveling on ticket in executive class.
The passenger introduced himself as an Assistant Vigilance Officer of the Railway Board and allegedly showed fake documents including identity card, Aadhaar card and travel pass. He was handed over to the Railway Protection Force at New Delhi Railway Station.
Tiwari was awarded a cash award of Rs 5,000 and a certificate of appreciation. A railway official said, “An FIR has been registered against the passenger and he has been sent to jail. Tiwari has been honored for his commendable work earlier also, when he was posted as Commercial Inspector and Train Ticket Inspector in Kanpur.”
