The Uncut

Thiruvananthapuram: After rain in many parts of southern Kerala on Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for three districts of the state. IMD issued ‘Orange Alert’ for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts. Apart from this, ‘Yellow Alert’ was issued for Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts. ‘Orange Alert’ indicates very heavy rainfall (6 cm to 20 cm) while ‘Yellow Alert’ indicates rainfall of six to 11 cm.

IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea for fishing off the Kerala-Lakshadweep coast in view of strong winds and adverse weather. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has cautioned people to stay indoors and avoid standing under trees or hoardings due to the possibility of heavy rains along with strong winds.
