‘After 20 years’ 2004 like moment will be seen on June 4: Ramesh

The Uncut

New Delhi. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday said that the upcoming June Lok Sabha elections will witness a “2004-like moment” with the opposition alliance ‘Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance’ (India) getting a clear mandate and the alliance’s “brilliant performance”. One reason for this is the “very impressive” change taking place in Uttar Pradesh.

Ramesh also claimed in an interview to ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was preparing a “communal pitch” but his party refused to play on it and even his “googlies and bouncers” failed. Gave. He expressed confidence that the results day on June 4 would be reminiscent of the “moment of 2004” when the Bharatiya Janata Party was ousted from power despite its ‘India Shining’ (Bharat Uday) campaign.

He says, “This is the moment of 2004, you will see. People keep asking me who will be the Prime Minister. Let me remind you that the results of the 2004 elections came on May 13, 2004. By May 17, it was clear that Manmohan Singh was going to become the Prime Minister. This time it could happen even sooner. Well, this election in India is not a beauty contest or ‘who will become PM’, it is about which alliance will get the mandate.”

Ramesh said, “We are a party-centric democracy. We are not like the American system, it is not a beauty contest between individuals, it is an election between parties. This is the moment of 2004. In 1962, the film ‘Bees Saal Baad’ starring Waheeda Rehman and Vishwajeet was released… Whatever happened in 2004, ‘Bees Saal Baad’, you will see it repeated.” Ramesh also expressed confidence that there will be “amazing change” in Uttar Pradesh.

Noting that Uttar Pradesh has 80 Lok Sabha seats, the Congress general secretary said the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ led by Rahul Gandhi had received an overwhelming response in places like Prayagraj, Varanasi, Pratapgarh, Lucknow, Amethi, Rae Bareli, Aligarh, Moradabad and Amroha.

He said that youth, women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs in Uttar Pradesh had come out in support of the Yatra.
The Congress leader said, “I think there is complete disillusionment with the Prime Minister because people are fed up with him. He (Modi) is tired and his influence has faded. “When the results are declared on June 4, one of the fundamental factors that contributed to our stellar performance will emerge in the form of a very impressive transformation in Uttar Pradesh.” In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 62 seats in Uttar Pradesh, its ally Apna Dal (S) got 2 seats, while the grand alliance (SP, BSP, RLD) won 15 seats and Congress got one seat.

Ramesh alleged that Modi engaged in polarization throughout the election and was preparing a “communal pitch”, but the Congress refused to play on it and pushed its ‘five justice’ agenda. He said, “I don’t want to use the language of cricket too much. There is a pitch that he prepares every day, we still have nine more days. The election campaign will end on May 30. What new things he will bring on the communal pitch, only he knows, because he is a master of 3D – ‘Distortion, Diversion and Defamation.’

He said, “He (Prime Minister Modi) is trying to bowl googlies, he is trying to bowl bouncers, he is doing ‘bodylines’, but we have successfully overcome his googlies, bouncers…we have overcome them. He bowled some googlies and bouncers, which he tried to avoid, but could not.” According to Ramesh, “This election is ‘people vs. Modi’, not just ‘Janbandhan’ of ‘India’ vs. Modi. This election is farmers vs Modi, women vs Modi, laborers vs Modi, youth vs Modi. This is social engineering, SC, ST, OBC are against Modi.”

He said, “This is an election when people are rising up very quietly and sending a message to this tired and faded Prime Minister that you are the outgoing Prime Minister and on June 4, you are going out of power.” He said, elections have been held on 428 seats, but only after two phases it became clear that the ‘India’ alliance will get a decisive mandate and the BJP will be ‘clean’ in the South and ‘half’ in the North, West and East. Ramesh said, “I think the Prime Minister is worried… He used to talk about 400-par and Modi’s guarantee, but has forgotten about it. He is the outgoing Prime Minister and the ‘India’ alliance will get a clear and decisive mandate on June 4.”
