Malayalam film actor Meghnadhan passes away

Kozhikode/Palakkad. Actor Meghnadhan, who performed powerfully in Malayalam films and television serials, died in a hospital here in the early hours of Thursday. He was 60 years old. Sources related to the film industry gave this information. Sources said that the actor was admitted to Meghnadhan Hospital, where he was being treated for respiratory diseases. He died at 2 o’clock on Wednesday night. Meghnadhan’s last rites were performed at his residence in Vadanamkurussi near Shoranur on Thursday evening.

Meghnadhan’s relatives, friends and fans from different walks of life gathered to pay tribute to him. His mortal remains were kept at his home till noon for the public to have their last glimpse. Meghnathan is survived by his wife Sushmita and daughter Parvati. Meghnadhan popular actor Balan K. He was Nair’s son. He worked in more than 50 films, including films like ‘Chamayam’, ‘Chenkol’ and ‘Ee Puzhayam Kadannu’.

He started his acting career in 1983 with the film ‘Astram’ directed by PN Menon. He was greatly liked in the roles of villains in Malayalam cinema. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled Meghnathan’s demise and remembered his contribution to the Malayalam film industry.

Many artists from the Malayalam film industry paid tribute to Meghnadhan. Actors Mohanlal, Mammootty and Union Minister Suresh Gopi expressed condolences on the demise of the actor. Mohanlal described Meghanathan as a talented actor who created a distinct identity in each of his roles through a natural, effortless style. Actors like Dileep, M Mukesh, Manju Warrier, Biju Menon, Vinduja Menon and Seema G Nair also paid tribute to Meghanathan by sharing his pictures on social media.
