Maharashtra: The results of the assembly elections are coming on Saturday. In these results, out of 288 seats, Mahayuti seems to be taking a big lead with around 220 seats led by BJP. How many regions are there in Maharashtra?
After Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, Maharashtra has the highest number of assembly seats in the country. Maharashtra, with 288 assembly seats, is politically divided into five regions. It is on the basis of these areas that equations of power are formed and worsened. These include Vidarbha, Marathwada, Western Maharashtra, Konkan and North Maharashtra.

The main contest in the 2024 assembly elections in the state was between two major alliances. First, the alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP (Ajit faction), which is currently in government. BJP’s ally Shiv Sena is getting 54 seats. At the same time, Ajit Pawar’s NCP is seen getting 38 seats. In this way, this alliance seems to be getting a total of 221 seats, which is much more than the majority figure of 145. On the other hand, Mahavikas Aghadi may get 54 seats.
At the same time, the main contest in the 2019 assembly elections was between two major alliances. First, the alliance of BJP and Shiv Sena, which was in government at that time. At the same time, Congress and NCP were included in the opposition alliance. When the results came, BJP had got the maximum of 105 seats in the 288-member assembly. At the same time, BJP’s ally Shiv Sena had got 56 seats. In this way, this alliance got a total of 161 seats, which was much more than the majority figure of 145. On the other hand, NCP got 54 seats while its ally Congress got 44 seats.
