Bengaluru. In Bengaluru, Karnataka, a 12-year-old girl was operated upon after she suffered a hole in her stomach after consuming ‘smoked paan’.
The girl was operated at Narayan Multispeciality Hospital here. According to the hospital, the girl had consumed ‘smoke paan’ at a wedding ceremony in Bengaluru. The hospital did not disclose the identity of the patient.
The hospital said in a statement that a hole was discovered in the girl’s stomach, which required emergency surgery to prevent further complications. The hospital said that in view of the serious condition of the patient, surgery was immediately performed using modern technology. Dr. Vijay H.S., the head of the team of doctors who operated the girl. Said that the surgery was done through “Intra-Op OGD Scopy” procedure. The hospital said that after the surgery, the girl was kept in the intensive care unit (ICU) for two days and was allowed to go home after six days.
