Narendra Modi is not going to become Prime Minister after the elections: Rahul Gandhi

The Uncut

Varanasi. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday described the electoral contest for the Varanasi parliamentary constituency as a fight between the poor and the billionaires and said that Narendra Modi is not going to become the Prime Minister after the election. Prime Minister Modi is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Varanasi parliamentary constituency while the Congress has fielded its Uttar Pradesh unit chief Ajay Rai against him. In the state, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress are fighting the election under the ‘India’ alliance and in the seat-sharing, the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency has gone to the Congress. Gandhi said that this election is not between ‘Prime Minister Modi’ but only between Modi and Rai.

Addressing an election rally in Varanasi in support of Ajay Rai, former Congress national president Gandhi said, “It is being said in the media that Ajay Rai is fighting against the Prime Minister of India. I want to tell the people of Kashi one thing that this fight is between the poor and the billionaires.” He said, “In this election, there is a contest between Narendra Modi and Ajay Rai. But I am telling you with guarantee that Narendra Modi will not be the Prime Minister of this country on June 4. That is why this election is not between the Prime Ministerial candidate and Ajay Rai. This election is only between Narendra Modi and Ajay Rai.”

Gandhi said, “I am saying with guarantee that there is a fierce fight between the two and Ajay Rai ji can win this fight, he can win with a huge majority, because this fight is between the auto rickshaw drivers of Banaras, the Banarasi saree makers, the farmers, laborers and billionaires of Banaras.” Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also addressed the rally. In the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, voting will be held in Varanasi on June 1.
