Shahjahanpur: A contractor and his accomplice allegedly molested a student at gunpoint at a nursing college in the Chowk police station area of Shahjahanpur district, the police said on Tuesday.
According to the police, an FIR has been lodged against both the accused under sections related to attempt to murder and molestation. One of the accused has been taken into custody and the other is being searched for. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of the city area, Sanjay Kumar, said on Tuesday that Suresh Kumar (35), who works as a tile-layer in a nursing college located in the Chowk Kotwali area, along with his friend Anmol, caught a student of the Jalalabad police station area in the toilet on Monday and molested her.
ASP said that when the student tried to shout in protest, he gagged her mouth and pointed a gun at her, but the student showed courage and bit the hand of accused Suresh Kumar to save herself and ran outside screaming.
According to the Additional Superintendent of Police, on hearing the screams of the girl student, the nursing college staff and other students reached the spot. Kumar said that on seeing the staff and students, Suresh Kumar and his friend Anmol started running away from there, but everyone together caught Suresh Kumar. He said that on receiving the information, the police immediately reached the spot and took the accused into custody and brought him to the police station. He said that action is being taken by registering a case.
