Aam Aadmi Party will contest assembly elections alone in Delhi

The Uncut

New Delhi. A day after the Congress’s defeat in Haryana, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday said that it will contest the Delhi Assembly elections proposed in February alone without any alliance, while the Congress also ruled out any agreement with the party (AAP). Have done.

AAP also criticized the Congress for not heeding calls for an alliance in Haryana due to its “overconfidence”. AAP’s chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar told PTI, “AAP will fight alone in Delhi. We are capable of taking on the overconfident Congress and the arrogant BJP alone.” He said that Congress took its alliance partners lightly in Haryana and due to its overconfidence it had to face defeat.

Meanwhile, Congress’ Delhi unit president Devendra Yadav said in a statement that the party is in a strong position to contest the assembly elections on its own without any alliance with AAP. He said that after the arrest and jailing of all the top party leaders including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in the excise ‘scam’ case, the party has no credibility left. AAP’s Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh said in the press conference that AAP tried to form an alliance with Congress in Haryana but it failed in all its efforts.

Singh said, “We followed the coalition dharma and tried to form an alliance with the BJP to end its 10-year misrule in Haryana. But he did not form an alliance and contested the elections alone and said that Aam Aadmi Party is not a ‘factor’ in the state.” Pre-poll alliance talks between Congress and AAP ended due to differences over seat sharing. AAP wanted to contest elections on 8-9 seats in Haryana in alliance with Congress whereas Congress was not ready to give it more than 3-4 seats.

Highlighting the importance of the alliance, Singh said that when AAP-Congress jointly contested the Lok Sabha elections in Haryana this year, the vote percentage of the ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ (India) alliance was 47 percent. Kakkar said that Congress’s defeat in Haryana was due to its overconfidence. He said, “Congress is overconfident and feels that it alone can defeat BJP.” He said that even though Congress does not have any assembly seat in Delhi, AAP had given it three Lok Sabha seats to contest earlier this year. AAP, which contested 89 out of 90 assembly seats in Haryana, also faced a crushing defeat and all its candidates except one could not save their deposits.
