AAP's protest in Raipur against Kejriwal's arrest

Raipur. The Chhattisgarh unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) protested on Friday against the arrest of the party's national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate in the excise policy case. About 100 party leaders and workers gathered at Ambedkar Chowk in the city carrying party flags and the national flag and protested. During this, they raised slogans against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led central government.

Party's Chhattisgarh unit secretary Priyanka Shukla targeted the central government and said, “They want 'one nation, one party'. He wants to run the government like a dictator in which he can control everything.” Shukla said, “The Kejriwal-led government was elected thrice with full majority with the mandate of the people of Delhi. His arrest is not only an attack on Kejriwal but it is an attack on the people of Delhi, an ideology and democracy.”

He said, “The opposition leaders who raise their voice against them (BJP) and refuse to bow before them, are being sent to jail.” Shukla alleged that the central government has strangled democracy and put him behind bars. The AAP leader said, “If BJP wants to contest elections without the opposition, then they should ask us to sit at home. They just want to contest and win the elections alone.” Policemen have been deployed at the protest site. When the police personnel asked them not to protest citing the model code of conduct issued for the Lok Sabha elections, the protesters started leaving from there.
