The Uncut

New Delhi. In the context of the ongoing controversy over the credit of the recently released film ‘Stree 2’, actor Abhishek said that both the audience and the film industry need to understand that cinema is a director’s medium and the credit for the success of a film should go only to the director.

Since the release of Stree 2, fans of the film’s two main actors Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao have been fighting on social media over who should be given more credit for the film’s success. ‘Stree 2’ has earned more than Rs 600 crore in Indian cinemas. Banerjee, who plays an important role in the film’s cast, said that the director makes or breaks the film.

The actor told PTI, “There is a lot of camaraderie between all of us (cast members)… It is easy for us to attribute credit to the actors, but we have to mature as an audience and an industry. Cinema is a director’s medium. There is no debate on this, if a film is successful or not, it is only because of the director.”
