Kolkata. West Bengal Governor C V Anand Bose sent a confidential letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee hours after meeting the parents of a woman doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, but the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) refused to accept it, a Raj Bhavan official claimed on Thursday. There was, however, no confirmation from the state government about the development. The official said the governor wrote the letter after meeting the deceased’s parents at their residence in North 24 Parganas district on Wednesday.
A Raj Bhavan official told PTI-Bhasha, “A confidential letter was sent to the CMO through a messenger last night. But the CMO refused to accept it.” The official, however, refused to disclose the contents of the letter.
When contacted, a senior CMO official declined to comment on the matter.
On Wednesday, Bose visited the house of the woman doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital earlier this month. He also spoke to the victim’s parents.
After talking to his parents, the Governor had said, “I will write a letter to the Chief Minister. He has told me some things… which are confidential.” Bose had spoken to the doctor’s parents twice over the phone on Tuesday and assured them of justice.
On the morning of August 9, police recovered the body of a female postgraduate trainee doctor from the seminar hall of the hospital.
The next day a man was arrested for his alleged involvement in the crime.
