After Rahman announced his separation from his wife, children appealed to respect their privacy.

The Uncut

Mumbai. The three children of Oscar award-winning composer AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu have requested people to respect their privacy in the wake of their parents announcing their separation after 29 years of marriage. Rehman and Bano were married in 1995. The news of their breakup was announced in a joint statement issued by lawyer Vandana Shah on Tuesday night. Rehman’s daughters Khatija, Rahima and son Amin posted messages on Instagram Stories last night after the news of their parents’ separation broke.

Amen wrote, “We request everyone to respect our privacy at such a time.” Khatija and Rahima wrote, “I would be very grateful if this matter is handled with utmost privacy and respect.” Re-sharing her father’s post on ‘X’, Rahima wrote, “Remember us in your prayers.” Rehman and Bano had said in their statement that they have decided to separate after emotional stress in their relationship.

According to a statement issued by Vandana Shah to the media, “After many years of marriage, Saira and her husband AR Rahman have taken the difficult decision of separation from each other. “This decision has been taken after a lot of emotional stress in their relationship.” In a post on ‘X’, Rahman said, “We were hopeful that we would complete 30 years. It seems that the outcome is not known but things keep happening. Even the throne of Allah can shake under the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this fragmentation, we find meaning, even if we never find our place again. “Our friends, thank you for respecting our privacy as we go through this delicate time.” The Rehman couple were seen together at the grand wedding of Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai in July this year.

After Rehman’s post on X, his fans wrote various types of messages for him. Someone wrote, ‘Have courage,’ someone wrote, ’29 years is not too much. You stay together. Another fan wrote, ‘Sir, have courage. Let us respect their privacy. One wrote, “Hope everything will be fine.” One fan wrote, “I have tears in my eyes and my heart is also crying.” Will love you always. Very sad to know this, heart broken. I pray for both of you. Many also wrote, “Please reconsider your decision for the sake of your children.” Another fan wrote, “Have courage sir. May time reunite you.”
