After Trump’s arrival, the future of Paris Agreement is in limbo: Ramesh

The Uncut

New Delhi. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said on Wednesday after Donald Trump’s victory in the US Presidential elections was assured that the future of the 2015 Paris Agreement related to climate change is in limbo. He also said that if America again withdrew from this agreement, it would be disastrous.

Ramesh posted on ‘X’, “Donald Trump has made a surprising comeback. No doubt, why and how this happened will be analyzed in detail over the next few weeks. “The question will also arise as to what this withdrawal means for America and the rest of the world.” He said, “It is certain that the future of the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change is now in limbo. If America again withdraws from this agreement, it will be disastrous.” During his first presidential term, Trump withdrew America from the historic Paris Agreement.

Outgoing US President Joe Biden had signed several important executive orders just hours after being sworn in as the 46th President in 2021, which included Washington’s re-acceptance of the Paris Climate Agreement.

According to the information provided by ‘Associated Press’ till 1 pm, Republican candidate Trump has secured 267 electoral college votes, while Democrat candidate Harris has secured 214 electoral college votes. The candidate who wins 270 or more Electoral College votes is elected President.
