Rohit Kashyap, Mungeli. The Congress has suffered a major blow as the post of president in Sargaon Nagar Panchayat, which is in Congress majority in the district, has gone away. BJP and Congress councilors brought a no-confidence motion against Nagar Panchayat President Rajeev Tiwari, which has been passed. All 15 councilors have cast their votes. In which 10 votes were in favor and 4 against and 1 vote was rejected.
Let us tell you that 5 BJP councilors along with 5 Congress councilors had applied to Mungeli Collector Rahul Dev for a no-confidence motion against Nagar Panchayat Sargaon President Rajiv Tiwari. On which voting was decided to be held on 16th January i.e. today. To conduct voting on the no-confidence motion today, Sub-Divisional Officer (RA) BS Thakur conducted direct voting among 15 councilors. In which Chairman Rajeev Tiwari had 4 votes in favor and 10 votes against and 1 vote was rejected. In this way, Rajeev Tiwari's chair has slipped in the no-confidence motion.
It is imperative to mention here that Congress has 10 councilors in Nagar Panchayat Sargaon and they are in absolute majority, yet the passing of no-confidence motion against the President of their own party shows that everything was not going well among the Congress councillors, which That became visible as soon as the government changed.
SDM and presiding officer BS Thakur said that under Municipality Act 43 (A), one third of the voting was done against the Municipal President. On which the no-confidence motion was passed as per rules.
