New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi will take oath as the Chief Minister at a ceremony at Raj Niwas on Saturday afternoon. With this, AAP will form the government in Delhi for the fourth consecutive time. Officials said that Atishi will take oath of office at 4.30 pm and the Council of Ministers will also be sworn in.
The new council of ministers announced by AAP will include Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Imran Hussain and Sultanpur Majra MLA Mukesh Ahlawat. Rai, Gehlot, Bhardwaj and Hussain are also ministers in the outgoing government led by Arvind Kejriwal.
Atishi will be the 17th woman Chief Minister of the country. Officials of the Lieutenant Governor’s Office had said on Friday evening that President Draupadi Murmu has appointed Atishi as the Chief Minister of Delhi from the date of swearing-in and has also accepted the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal.
He said that the President has also approved the appointment of five ministers. According to an AAP leader, the swearing-in ceremony will be simple because the atmosphere in the party is not very good due to Kejriwal’s resignation and due to the delay in getting approvals, very little time has been available for preparations.
