Bangladeshi smugglers attack BSF in Indian territory, one infiltrator killed

New Delhi. A Bangladeshi smuggler, who had infiltrated into the Indian border along with his associates, was killed by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in retaliatory action in the border areas of Salpokar in Tripura on Monday. Official sources gave this information. Sources said that Bangladeshi smugglers armed with sharp weapons were trying to smuggle into India. According to sources, the group included 12 to 15 smugglers and the incident took place at Salpokar in Gokul Nagar, Tripura at around 6 pm on Monday. Sources said BSF personnel on duty spotted the infiltrators and when one of them (soldiers) was caught by the group and attacked, they called other soldiers.

Sources said that a bullet was fired in the air from a distance of about 40 meters, after which some miscreants fled back to Bangladesh. Other people surrounded a BSF jawan and attacked him with a sharp weapon and caught him and threw him down. Sources said that sensing the danger and trying to save his life, the soldier fired two bullets from his service gun, after which the other miscreants fled to Bangladesh. Sources informed that after searching the area, a Bangladeshi smuggler was found dead. According to official sources, the butt of the BSF jawan’s rifle was damaged in the clash. The injured soldier is currently undergoing treatment.
