Bastar: Five Naxalites surrender, two arrested

Sukma/Bijapur. In separate incidents in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, five Naxalites, including a woman Naxalite, surrendered and security forces have arrested two Naxalites. Police officials gave this information on Monday. Police officials said that five Naxalites surrendered before the police and senior officials of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Sukma district of the region.

He said that the Naxalites have surrendered after being disappointed by the atrocities, ‘inhuman’ and ‘hollow’ ideology carried out by senior Maoists. Officials said that the surrendered Naxalites said that they were also impressed by the Naxal rehabilitation policy of the state government and the scheme ‘Niyad Nella Naar’ (Your Good Village) being run to facilitate development work in remote villages.

He told that among the Naxalites who surrendered, Madvi Dudwa (36) is the RPC (Revolutionary Party Committee) militia commander of the Maoists. There is a reward of one lakh rupees on his head. Officials said that the other Naxalites who surrendered are Madkam Joga (35), Madvi Lachchu (33), Madvi Lachchu (45) and woman Naxalite Karatam Mase (33). These Naxalites were working as low level members in the banned organization.

He said that the District Reserve Guard, 212th and 217th battalions of CRPF and the intelligence wing of 208th battalion of CRPF Cobra (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) have played an important role in their surrender. Officials said the surrendered cadres were allegedly involved in incidents of attacking police parties, planting landmines, damaging roads and putting up Maoist posters and banners. He told that they will be rehabilitated as per the government policy.

Officials said that in another incident, two Naxalites were arrested on Sunday evening from the forest between Bardela and Bade Tungali village under Jangla police station area of ​​Bijapur district. He said that the two Naxalites arrested by the police in Bijapur have been identified as Jogo Madvi (27) and Soni Lal Ursa (22), both were active as militia members. He told that Maoist pamphlets have been recovered from both of them.
