Purushottam Patra, Gariaband, The lifting of paddy purchased at support price in the district is in the final stage. As soon as the paddy is harvested, the curtain has also started rising on the games taking place in the procurement centres. More than 15,000 bags of paddy are missing in about 60 of the 90 procurement centers in the district. At the rate of Rs 3100, the price of missing paddy is coming to around Rs 2 crore. Earlier there used to be shortage in the weight of paddy, but this is the first time that such quantity of sacks of paddy were found missing. The surprising thing is that the number of sacks missing in the paddy procurement centers along the Odisha border ranges from 200 to 700. Allegations of bogus purchases in these centers were being made from the beginning. When the date of procurement extended, the formalities like quantity of responsible sacks and weighing sheets were completed, but in the last phase, due to cross checking of the administration, surrender of area and increasing hold on the borders, the quantity of paddy could not be fulfilled.

In this matter, Assistant Registrar Usha Dhruv, who controls the cooperative societies, said that we are not aware of this, we are getting to know from you. We can say something only after investigation. Markfed DMO Amit Chandrakar said that DO has been cut, millers are lifting, festivals could also be the reason for the delay. I have no information regarding the missing sack.

Miller started returning empty handed, then it was revealed

The matter came to light when the millers' carts reaching the procurement center for paddy lifting started returning empty handed. In fact, 10 days ago, DO was supplied to the millers for the last phase of lifting, but the bags of paddy are missing in the centres. Had to return empty handed from there. When they got wind of the matter, Goharapadar Cooperative Bank Manager Nayan Singh Thakur and authorized officer Aswanath Singh reached Barbahli Center on Tuesday. According to the records, there should have been 1000 bags of paddy in this center but even 500 bags are not present in the field. BM Thakur also confirmed this. But procurement in-charge Jas Kumar Yadav, while giving clarification, said that there was a shortage of 5 to 10 quintals in each trip of the paddy sent to the collection centre, and efforts were made to compensate. Due to which extra bags were sent to the paddy collection center in the vehicles going later.

A large quantity of sacks are missing in the centers bordering Odisha.

The procurement centers of Chhura, Mainpur, Devbhog and Amlipadar tehsils bordering Odisha were kept under the radar of the administration for bogus procurement. In 45 such centres, the quantity of paddy sacks is said to be missing.
