Karnataka: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has received a big setback from the High Court in the Muda land scam. In this case, the High Court has rejected his petition against the Governor. During the hearing, the High Court said that there is a need to investigate the facts mentioned in the petition.
Saying this, the High Court dismissed the petition. During the hearing, the court said that the Governor is the competent authority to grant sanction for prosecution.
Actually, this issue is about a piece of land measuring 3.14 acres, which is in the name of Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati. BJP is constantly attacking the Chief Minister and his government on this issue and has accused CM Siddaramaiah of corruption and demanded his resignation. In this case, Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot has given permission to run a case against Siddaramaiah.
On the other hand, Siddaramaiah has been rejecting all these allegations till now. He also called the Governor’s decision unconstitutional. After this, he approached the court, challenging the Governor’s decision legally. Siddaramaiah had said that the Governor is unable to tolerate the government and is trying to remove it.

Mysore Urban Development Authority is called MUDA in short form. This authority is an autonomous body for the development work of Mysore city. The work of acquisition and allotment of land is the responsibility of the authority. The matter is of land scam, so MUDA’s name has been associated with this case since the beginning (2004). This case is related to the allotment of land parcels as compensation by MUDA when Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister. Social activists have alleged that there have been irregularities in this process. Due to this, the government treasury has suffered a loss of crores. Names of top officials of MUDA and Revenue Department have also come to the fore in this case.
