BJP comes out in support of Thrissur Mayor who praised Suresh Gopi

The Uncut

Thrissur. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday supported Thrissur Municipal Corporation Mayor M.K. Varghese, who got into trouble for praising Union Minister Suresh Gopi in Kerala. The BJP said that the party stands with every person who works for development, rising above politics.

BJP general secretary M.T. Ramesh told reporters here, “It is a reality that Union Minister Suresh Gopi thinks about the development of Thrissur. Why are other political organizations getting angry when he tells the truth.” He accused the opponents of doing politics in everything. Ramesh’s statement came amid a political controversy over the positive comments made by Left Democratic Front (LDF)-ruled Thrissur Municipal Corporation Mayor Varghese about Suresh Gopi recently.

Varghese had said that the actor-turned-politician has a vision for the development of Thrissur constituency and Kerala. The mayor also said that as a public representative, it is his responsibility to stand with the MP or minister for development, whatever their politics may be. However, when asked about joining the BJP, the mayor replied in the negative.
