New Delhi. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the alleged attack on two army officers and their two female friends in Madhya Pradesh and the “rape of one of these women” and alleged that the BJP governments have a negative attitude towards crimes against women. He also claimed that the law and order situation in BJP-ruled states has almost collapsed.
In Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, miscreants attacked two young army officers and their two female friends on a picnic late on Tuesday night and allegedly raped one of the women. Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Rahul Gandhi posted on ‘X’, “The violence against two army personnel and the rape of their female companion in Madhya Pradesh is enough to shame the entire society. The law and order in BJP-ruled states is almost non-existent and against women. The negative attitude of the BJP government on the increasing crimes day by day is extremely worrying.” He said that this audacity of the criminals is the result of the complete failure of the administration and the unsafe environment that is developing in the country due to this is a restriction on the freedom and aspirations of the daughters of India.
Rahul Gandhi said that this is a matter of shame for both the society and the government and they should seriously think about how long they will turn a blind eye to the responsibility of protecting half the population of the country. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra posted on ‘X’ regarding this incident, “The incidents of gang rape of a woman after holding army officers hostage in Madhya Pradesh and finding a naked body of a woman on the highway in Uttar Pradesh are heart-wrenching.”
She said, “Every day 86 women are becoming victims of rape and brutality in the country. From home to outside, from road to office, women are not safe anywhere. Half the population of the country is not only unsafe, but due to such brutality, the morale of crores of women is broken every day.” According to Priyanka Gandhi, the Prime Minister talks big about the safety of women, but women across the country are still waiting for a serious effort for their safety. She asked, “When will this wait end?”
