BJP’s two-point programme is to encourage injustice, spread hatred and violence: Rahul Gandhi

More than 50 percent of the country’s population is from the OBC category, 15 percent are Dalits and 8 percent are Adivasis, he said.

“This 73 percent of the population does not have a voice in the media, the top 200 corporates, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and among 90 bureaucrats…you are not giving anything to this 73 percent (population),” he claimed.

“We have to first find out their exact numbers,” Gandhi said.

The poor from the general category are also there, he said.

“In Adani’s company, you will not find poor people from the general category, or OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis,” the Congress leader claimed, adding that the day people from these sections will be seen there, he will not demand a caste census.

“We will not accept that 73 percent of the country’s population will not get anything. The yatra’s aim is to ensure justice to them,” Gandhi added.

Congress state in-charge Sachin Pilot, leader of opposition in the assembly Charan Das Mahant, former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and other senior party leaders were present on the occasion.

The yatra was accorded a warm welcome by Congress members at the Rengalpali checkpoint on the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border.

After a two-day break, the yatra will resume from Raigarh on February 11.

The mass outreach programme of the Congress started in Manipur on January 14 and will culminate in Mumbai on March 20.
