The Uncut

New York. India’s Rohan Bopanna and his Indonesian partner Aldila Sutjiadi made a brilliant comeback after losing the first set and entered the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles of the US Open tennis tournament. The eighth seeded pair of Bopanna and Sutjiadi defeated Australia’s John Peers and Czech Republic’s Katerina Siniakova 0-6, 7-6 (5) 10-7 in a second round match that lasted one hour and 13 minutes.

Bopanna told PTI, “Sometimes it is not about how you start but how you finish. They also started well and we changed the pace and changed the strategy a bit which also helped.” Bopanna and Sutjiadi will next face the fourth seeded pair of Matthew Ebden and Barbora Krejcikova.
Bopanna and his partner had won 7-6(7) 7-6(5) against Germany’s Tim Puetz and Netherlands’ Demi Schuurs in the opening round. The pair of Bopanna and Ebden had already reached the third round of the men’s doubles. They defeated Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena and Argentina’s Federico Coria 6-2, 6-4 in the second round.
