BSNL will move to 5G network by June 2025: Scindia

New Delhi. Government telecom company BSNL will complete the work of implementing indigenously developed 4G technology through one lakh base stations by May next year. Giving this information on Monday, Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that after this the company will move to 5G network by June 2025. He said at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum that India has followed the world in 4G, is catching up with the world in 5G and will lead the world in 6G technology. The minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very clear that the government company will not use anyone else’s equipment.

Scindia said, “Now we have a major and a radio access network, which is fully functional. We have a plan of one lakh sites by April-May next year. “We have started 38,300 sites till yesterday.” He said, “We are going to start our own 4G network, which will move to 5G by June 2025.” We will be the sixth country in the world to do so.” BSNL is using 4G technology developed by a collaboration of government company C-DOT and domestic IT company TCS. Scindia said that India implemented 5G technology the fastest in the world with the installation of 4.5 lakh towers in 22 months and this service is available to 80 percent of the country’s population.
