Noida: The District Court of Gautam Buddha Nagar has convicted the friend of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader in the nearly two-year-old case of murder of his son and sentenced him to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000.
District Government Advocate Brahmajit Bhati said that District Judge Avinash Saxena, while completing the hearing in the case on Thursday, sentenced Pravesh Bhati to life imprisonment. He said that Rahul Bhati, a resident of Palla village, was shot dead on 11 February 2022 in Surajpur police station area and his body was recovered from the forest of Junpat village. Rahul was the son of Hargovind Bhati, who was the coordinator (Meerut zone) of BSP.
Brahmjeet said that the police had arrested Rahul’s friend Pravesh Bhati a few days after the murder and the pistol and motorcycle used in the murder were also recovered. The court gave its verdict on Thursday after hearing the chargesheet filed by the police, the post-mortem report, the statements of witnesses and the arguments of both the parties.
