BSP will now give a chance to Muslims in the elections after a lot of thought: Mayawati

The Uncut

Lucknow. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati expressed her intention to review her party’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections and said that despite giving proper representation in various elections, the Muslim community is not able to understand the BSP properly, so the party will give opportunities to Muslims in future elections only after careful consideration. Mayawati’s party could not open its account in the Lok Sabha election results declared on Tuesday. Earlier, it did not get a single seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as well.

Mayawati reacted to the election results by issuing a detailed statement on Wednesday. She said that her party will do a deep analysis of the election results at every level and will take concrete steps in the interest of the party and its campaign. She expressed gratitude to the Dalit community, especially the Jatav community, for supporting the party but also expressed displeasure towards the Muslim community.

Mayawati said, “The Muslim community which is an important part of the Bahujan Samaj Party is not able to understand the BSP properly despite being given proper representation in the past elections and this time too in the Lok Sabha elections. So, in such a situation, the party will give them a chance in the elections after a lot of thought so that the party does not suffer any loss in the future like this time.” It is worth mentioning that in this year’s Lok Sabha elections, the BSP had given tickets to the maximum number of 35 Muslim candidates.

In the results of the Lok Sabha elections declared on Tuesday, the Samajwadi Party (SP) won the maximum number of 37 seats in Uttar Pradesh. Its alliance partner Congress also got six seats. The Muslim community is traditionally considered to be the voter of the SP and it is believed that this time too, most of the Muslim community’s votes have gone to the SP and Congress.

Mayawati said, “Whatever the result of the Lok Sabha election is, it is in front of the people and now they have to think and decide about the country’s democracy, constitution and national interest etc. that what impact will this election result have on their lives and how peaceful, prosperous and secure will their future be?”

Mayawati also expressed her objection to the Lok Sabha elections being held in extreme heat and said that her party has been demanding from the very beginning that the elections should not be dragged on for too long and keeping in mind the interests of the common people as well as lakhs of government employees deployed on election duty, the elections should be held in three or four phases at the most.
