The Uncut

Dubai. Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah once again topped the ICC Test bowling rankings by overtaking Kagiso Rabada and Josh Hazlewood on Wednesday, thanks to his match-winning bowling spell against Australia in Perth. Acting captain Bumrah took eight wickets for 72 runs in the match as India defeated Australia by 295 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series being played for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Before the Perth Test, Bumrah was at third place in the bowling rankings. Now he has reached a career-best 883 ranking points, leaving behind South Africa’s Rabada (872 points) and Australia’s Hazlewood (860 points). Bumrah’s teammate Mohammad Siraj took five wickets in the Perth Test, due to which he also gained three places and reached 25th position.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who played a brilliant inning of 161 runs in the first Test against Australia, with the help of his career-best 825 points, reached second place in the batsmen’s rankings behind England’s Joe Root (903 points). Veteran star batsman Virat Kohli’s upward climb continues as he moves up nine places to 13th position after scoring his 30th Test century. Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has maintained the sixth position with 736 points. Although Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin did not play against Australia in the Perth Test, their pair is at the top in the Test all-rounder rankings.
