Case registered against two people for parading minors on suspicion of theft

Bhopal: In Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, police have registered a case against two people for tying up three minors and parading them on suspicion of theft. An official gave this information on Monday. Earlier on Sunday, the police had registered a case of theft against three minors. All three were tied with a rope and paraded around Harpalpur town.

The police registered a case against Kailash Dwivedi and Dev Parmar as well as other unidentified persons on Sunday evening after a video of the incident surfaced on social media and a complaint by one of the minors, the official said.

Police said that the accused have been booked under sections 296 (obscene acts), 115 (2) (causing hurt), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), 3 (5) (compounded by several persons with common intention) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). A case has been registered under sections 127(2) (wrongful confinement) and provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.

He said that legal action is being taken in the matter. On Sunday morning, three minors were tied up and paraded on suspicion of being pickpockets and thieves in Purani Galla Mandi area of ​​Harpalpur town in Chhatarpur district.
An official earlier said that a video of the parade of minors surfaced on social media, after which the police started investigating the incident.

Harpalpur police station in-charge Pushpak Sharma said on Sunday, “On the complaint of Dharmendra Rajput, a case of theft has been registered against the three minors. The video in which he is shown being tied and spun is also being investigated.” According to some residents, there have been recent incidents of pickpocketing and theft of items including mobile phones in the area.
