Case should be registered against Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar for violating oath of secrecy: Raut

The Uncut

Mumbai. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said that a case should be registered against both the Deputy Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis, for violating the oath of secrecy. A day before Raut’s comment, Ajit Pawar had accused his undivided Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) colleague and former Home Minister late RR Patil of ordering an open inquiry against him in the alleged irrigation scam worth crores of rupees.

Ajit Pawar, at a rally held in Tasgaon in Sangli district on Tuesday, had alleged that Patil had “stabbed him in the back” by ordering an open inquiry. He had claimed that after becoming the Chief Minister in 2014, Fadnavis had shown him the file in which Patil’s comments regarding the order for investigation were mentioned. Raut described Patil as an honest and efficient Home Minister and said that he had never done anything wrong.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said, “Fadnavis violated the oath of secrecy by showing the file to Ajit Pawar. How can these issues be discussed publicly? The Governor should order a case to be registered against Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar for violation of oath.” Raut said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has been successful in convincing the rebels on 90 percent of the seats in the Maharashtra Assembly from where these leaders had filed nominations against the official candidates of the alliance. He said that Shiv Sena (UBT) candidates have filed nominations for 96 seats.

When Raut was asked about the rebels entering the field, he said, “This keeps happening in the alliance. We will sit together and try to convince the rebels. We want to bring change and to do this everyone has to stand united.” He said, “We have convinced those party workers (who had rebelled against the official candidates) on 90 percent of such seats.” Rajya Sabha member Raut said that Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar and the Congress leadership will try to pacify the disgruntled leaders.

The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers for Maharashtra Assembly elections is November 4. Raut admitted that when three parties contest elections together, the parties as well as the workers have to face problems due to limited seats.
Shiv Sena (UBT) and ally ‘Peasants and Workers Party’ (PWP) have fielded their candidates in Sangole and Alibaug assembly constituencies. Regarding them, Raut said that his party had won both these seats in the 2019 elections.

However, he said he is still ready to negotiate on these seats as PWP is part of the MVA. Asked whether a Sangli-like situation would be seen in some seats, Raut took a dig at the Congress and said that if its ally had followed coalition dharma during the Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Chandrahar Patil would have lost. Do not have to face.

In Sangli, Vishal Patil of Congress had contested the elections as an independent candidate, disobeying the orders of the party high command. By the time the nomination process ended on Tuesday in Maharashtra, nearly 8,000 candidates had filed nomination papers for 288 assembly seats in the state. Voting for the assembly elections in the state will be held on November 20 while the counting of votes will be done on November 23.
