Center and Delhi government to file report regarding ‘antihemophilic factor’ injection: High Court

The Uncut

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has directed the Center and the Delhi government to file a report regarding the stock status of ‘antihemophilic factor’ injection administered to persons suffering from a rare genetic blood disorder.

The court asked the governments to submit their status report regarding the existing supply chain system for the hospitals under them and posted the matter for further hearing on December 12. “The respondents are directed to file a status report with respect to the stock of injections and the existing supply chain system for the hospitals under them,” Justice Sanjeev Narula said in the order passed on November 28. The report should be filed within ten days.

The court was hearing a petition filed by several persons suffering from hemophilia. Hemophilia is a rare genetic blood disorder. The petitioners said that treatment of the disease is expensive and requires injections of antihemophilic factor (AHF).

He said that treatment of hemophilia is available in government hospitals, but often the stock of injections is inadequate, putting their lives at risk. The petition has sought direction to the Center and the Delhi government to monitor the supply chain management of AHF injection, so that any disruption in its supply can be prevented.
