Chandrayaan-3 lands in one of the oldest giant craters on the Moon

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has said that ‘Chandrayaan-3’ landed in a huge crater on the Moon, which is about 160 km in size and about 4.4 km deep and is probably older than the South Pole Atkin (SPA) Basin. . According to scientists at the Physical Research Laboratory and ISRO, this has been revealed on the basis of analysis of images taken by navigation (direction indicator) cameras of Chandrayaan-3 Pragyan rover and ‘Optical High Resolution’ camera of Chandrayaan-2 orbiter.

His study has been published in the magazine ‘Ikarus’. An ISRO statement said that Chandrayaan-3 along with Vikram lander and Pragyan rover landed in the mountainous region near the south pole of the Moon. The space agency said, “This huge crater is one of the oldest craters on the Moon, and Chandrayaan-3 Vikram lander and Pragyan rover landed and conducted activities in it.”
