Chhattisgarh: Modi, Nadda, Shah and Yogi included in BJP's 40 star campaigners

Raipur/Bhopal. Bharatiya Janata Party has released the list of star campaigners for the Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh, in which 40 leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president JP Nadda, Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari have been included. The Chhattisgarh unit of BJP has shared the list of star campaigners which also includes the names of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

Voting for 11 Lok Sabha seats in the state will be held in three phases on April 19, April 26 and May 7 and the counting of votes will take place on June 4. According to the list, Union ministers Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan and Arjun Munda and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will also campaign for the party in the state. Star campaigners also include Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, BJP state president Kiran Dev and four ministers of the state.

The name of Raman Singh, who has been the Chief Minister of the state thrice, is not in this list. He is the Speaker of the Assembly. Prime Minister Modi, Shah, Adityanath and Sharma had campaigned extensively in the assembly elections held in the state last year. In this election, BJP ousted the then ruling Congress from power and registered a big victory.

In the last assembly elections, BJP had won 54 seats in the 90-member state assembly, while Congress had managed to win 35 seats and Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) had managed to win one seat. The ruling party is eyeing to repeat the same performance in the Lok Sabha elections and has set a target of winning all the 11 Lok Sabha seats.

Naxal-hit Bastar (ST) Lok Sabha constituency in the state will go to polls in the first phase of general elections on April 19, while three other constituencies, Mahasamund, Rajnandgaon and Kanker (ST) will go to polls on April 26. Voting will be held in the last phase on May 7 in the remaining seven seats Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Raigarh (ST), Korba, Janjgir-Champa (SC) and Surguja (ST). Both BJP and Congress have announced candidates for all 11 Lok Sabha seats. BJP had won 10 out of 11 Lok Sabha seats thrice in 2004, 2009 and 2014. In 2019, BJP had won nine out of 11 seats.

Uma Bharti missing from the list of star campaigners of BJP in MP, Pachauri included

Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Uma Bharti is missing from the list of star campaigners of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Lok Sabha elections in the state, while former Union Minister Suresh Pachauri, who recently left the Congress and joined the BJP, has been included in the list. . The ruling BJP on Tuesday night released the list of its 40 star campaigners for the state, which also includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Uma Bharti, who led the campaign to lead BJP to victory in the 2003 assembly elections in the state, failed to make it to the list of star campaigners of the party for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections of 2023. Earlier this month, Bharti had said that she would not contest elections for the next two years and would instead work for the revival of river Ganga, but she had also made it clear that she would not retire from politics.

Apart from Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Assam's Himanta Biswa Sharma and Chhattisgarh's Vishnu Dev Sai are included in the list of star campaigners who are working in Madhya Pradesh. Will seek votes for BJP candidates during Lok Sabha elections. Former Union Minister Pachauri, who joined BJP from Congress earlier this month, has been included in the list.

The names of state Deputy Chief Ministers Jagdish Deora and Rajendra Shukla and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya are also included in the list of star campaigners. Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan along with current cabinet ministers like Prahlad Patel, Kailash Vijayvargiya, Adal Singh Kanshana and Tulsi Silavat will also gather support for BJP candidates during the Lok Sabha elections as star campaigners.

Along with two former ministers of the state – Gopal Bhargava and Narottam Mishra, former Union Minister Satyanarayan Jatiya has also been selected for this work. The BJP had won 28 out of 29 seats in the state in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, while the lone Chhindwara seat went to the Congress.

Voting will be held in Sidhi, Shahdol (Scheduled Tribe), Jabalpur, Mandla (Scheduled Tribe), Balaghat and Chhindwara on April 19 in the first phase of the impending Lok Sabha elections. According to election officials, about 5.65 crore people of the state have the right to vote for the Lok Sabha elections.

Congress has so far announced its candidates for 22 out of 29 seats in the state. Congress has not yet announced candidates for Khandwa, Vidisha, Damoh, Guna, Gwalior and Morena seats. Congress has left Khajuraho Lok Sabha constituency for Samajwadi Party as per the seat sharing agreement. BJP has declared its candidates for all the 29 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state.
