Chhattisgarh: Provision of Rs 300 crore in the budget for Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana

Raipur: In Chhattisgarh, primitive tribes are being provided with basic amenities and permanent houses in their settlements under the ambitious scheme of the Central Government, PM Janman Yojana. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has allocated an amount of Rs 300 crore in this year’s budget for the implementation of this scheme in the state. Special instructions have been given to all the district collectors for the speedy implementation of this scheme in tribal areas.

For the first time in the country, Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana has been created for the development of these special backward tribes. This scheme was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Ulihatu, the birthplace of Lord Birsa Munda. This scheme is being implemented rapidly in Chhattisgarh. With the implementation of PM Janman Yojana, Birhor, Pahadi Korwa, Baiga, Kamar and Abujhmadia people living in Chhattisgarh have started getting the benefits of basic facilities. These families are being given concrete houses in place of thatched houses. Facilities like drinking water, electricity, roads are also being provided in the settlements of these tribal families.

In Chhattisgarh, under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati, Adivasi Nyay Mahabhiyan (PM Janman), in the year 2023-24, 333 roads of 1180 km length at a cost of Rs 847 crore were approved, 366 special backward tribal group settlements will benefit from these roads. Under this scheme, houses have been sanctioned to 15,154 families. A budget of Rs 300 crore has been kept for the implementation of this scheme for the financial year 2024-25. For the financial year 2024-25, a budget provision of Rs 349 crore has been made for 346 roads of 1419 km length for strengthening work under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

In the words of the beneficiaries

Mrs. Bhukhna, a resident of Village Panchayat Hargawan in Balrampur district, told that she was living in a mud house with her husband and children. Recalling her days of struggle, she told emotionally that she had not thought that she would ever be able to live in a pucca house in this life, a pucca house was like a dream for her, but under the PM Janman Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the government gave approval for building a pucca house. By combining the amount received as grant from the government and her own savings, she built a pucca house. She expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai.
