Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday condemned the killing of two village defense guards by terrorists in Kishtwar district. Abdullah wrote on ‘X’, “I am deeply saddened and concerned by the murder of Kuldeep Kumar and Nazir Ahmed, residents of Kuntwara, Kishtwar. They were members of the local Village Defense Committee. He said that two innocent people who had gone to graze their animals were killed by the terrorists.

“I unequivocally condemn this attack and express my condolences to the families of the victims,” Abdullah said. At the same time, I expect the security forces to act swiftly to plug any gaps in our counter-terrorism arrangements and ensure that such attacks stop completely.

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti also condemned the killings of VDG. “Party President Mehbooba Mufti has condemned the brutal killings of Village Defense Guards Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar in Kishtwar,” PDP posted on its official ‘X’ handle.

People’s Conference leader Sajjad Lone also expressed grief over the incident. He said, “Two Village Defense Guards (VDGs) were brutally shot dead in Kishtwar. I am very saddened by this incident. May his soul rest in peace. My heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones. ,
