Raipur. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge of Bilaspur district, Arun Sao, today participated in the closing ceremony of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ Fortnight organized by the technical educational institutions of Bilaspur at the local Krishi Vigyan Kendra auditorium. He administered the oath of cleanliness to the students and teachers. He honored the NSS and NCC volunteers who did excellent work during the fortnight by giving them citations. Chief guest Sao said that cleanliness is not a new thing for us. This has been a part of our habits and traditions since ancient times. The program was presided over by MLA Sushant Shukla.
While addressing the closing ceremony of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ Fortnight, Deputy Chief Minister Sao said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Mission a decade ago. At that time many people wondered what a new thing this was! There was apprehension in the minds of people regarding the cleanliness campaign. But now people have understood its importance these days. Everyone has started liking to be clean. Sao said that cleanliness has been an integral part of our culture since ancient times. The concluding program of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Fortnight was organized by Government Engineering College, Polytechnic College, Adarsh ITI and Government Agriculture College, Bilaspur.
Sao said in the program that no matter how expensive clothes we wear, if they are not clean then they have no meaning. We maintain cleanliness inside our house, but forget about the cleanliness of our surroundings. Don’t worry about it. Just like your home, you also have to pay attention to the cleanliness of your surroundings, village, locality and city. A special campaign is being run across the state to make people aware keeping in mind the goal of ‘Cleanliness is the ultimate religion’. Collector Avneesh Sharan, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar, Leader of Opposition Rajesh Singh and Principal of Government Engineering College T.S. Chawla along with a large number of college students, teachers, NSS and NCC volunteers and distinguished citizens were also present in the function.
