Congress, IUML, SDPI, Jamaat alliance is behind MLA Anwar: CPI(M)

The Uncut

Thiruvananthapuram/Malappuram: The ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Tuesday alleged that independent MLA P.V. Behind Anwar is the alliance of Congress, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Jamaat-e-Islami.

For the last few weeks, Anwar has been seen at loggerheads with the Left party and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on various issues. Continuing the attack on the Nilambur MLA, the CPI(M) said that leaders of Congress, its ally IUML, SDPI and Jamaat were present in large numbers at Anwar’s public meeting on Sunday.

Left party state secretary M.V. Gonivdan said that among the people present there, there were very few people from CPI(M).
Govindhan said there are two forms of communalism in Kerala, first is “majority or Hindu communalism” which is the “biggest enemy” and second is “minority communalism”.

“Apart from all this is the alliance of Congress, IUML, SDPI and Jamaat which was formed before the recently held Lok Sabha elections and this group is behind Anwar and is actively working for him,” he said.

The CPI(M) leader said that whenever the Left party has been attacked, it is the common people who have come forward to defend it. “This time too the people and the party will come together…” Responding to the CPI(M) state secretary’s remarks, Anwar told reporters in Malappuram that democratic and secular minded people participated in his public meeting on Sunday. .

“Calling him communal or fascist will only create problems for the CPI(M),” the Nilambur MLA said. Anwar has been accused of arresting Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), M R Ajitkumar and other senior police officers over gold brought illegally from abroad. Allegations of not following proper procedure while confiscating.

The independent MLA claimed that he was thrown out of the LDF when he asked the CPI(M) to take action against Ajit Kumar. He has also sought a High Court-monitored investigation into his allegations on various issues, including those made against a top official of the state police.

In the wake of various allegations made by him against Ajit Kumar, a case was registered against Anwar on Sunday for illegally tapping phone calls of senior police officers in the state.
