Kondagaon. On Sunday, a 27-year-old constable allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service pistol in Naxal-affected Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh. Police gave this information. The police quoted a family member of the constable as saying that he was suffering from mental health problems. Constable Harilal Nag of the state police unit ‘Bastar Fighters’ allegedly shot himself with his service pistol at his house in Barda village of Urandabeda police station area in the morning, a police official said.
He told that after hearing the sound of gunshot, the family members reached his room and found him dead on the bed. He told that Nag, posted at Dhanora police station, had gone to his home in a nearby village. The officer said that Nag’s father told the police that he was suffering from some mental illness, but complete information about it has not been received yet.
He said that investigation is underway to find out the real reason behind the constable taking this step. This is the eighth incident of suicide by security personnel of various forces including Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Chhattisgarh in the last five months.
